The Conference

A. Background knowledge

The rapid development of digital technology and artificial intelligence has significantly transformed the landscape of education in the 21st century. Educational institutions are increasingly challenged to adapt to technological advancements while ensuring that learning remains inclusive, equitable, and oriented toward sustainable development. In this evolving context, education is expected not only to transmit knowledge but also to cultivate ethical awareness, social responsibility, and the competencies necessary to address complex global challenges. Islamic education holds a strategic position in responding to these transformations. Rooted in the integration of knowledge (‘ilm), ethical values (akhlaq), and social responsibility, Islamic education offers a holistic framework that can guide the responsible use of technology in learning environments. The presence of emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, opens new opportunities to enhance learning innovation, educational governance, and knowledge production. At the same time, these developments require careful reflection to ensure that technological advancement remains aligned with ethical principles, cultural values, and human well-being. Building an inclusive and sustainable educational ecosystem therefore requires collaborative efforts among scholars, educators, policymakers, and practitioners. Educational innovation must be supported by responsible leadership, evidence-based decision making, and pedagogical approaches that integrate technology while maintaining the humanistic and ethical dimensions of education. Such an ecosystem encourages the development of learners who are not only technologically competent but also socially aware, culturally grounded, and capable of contributing positively to society. In response to these challenges, the International Conference on Islamic Education serves as an academic platform that brings together scholars, researchers, educators, and practitioners to discuss emerging issues and innovative solutions in Islamic education. With the theme “Building an Inclusive and Sustainable Educational Ecosystem,” this conference seeks to promote interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration in integrating technology, ethical values, and inclusive educational practices. Through discussions across various sub-themes, such as the integration of AI and Islamic ethical values in religious education, digital leadership and governance in Islamic educational institutions, technology-enhanced pedagogy for primary education, responsible technology use in early childhood education, AI-supported mathematical learning, AI-enhanced language education, and digital citizenship in the age of artificial intelligence, the conference aims to generate new insights, research collaborations, and practical recommendations. Ultimately, the International Conference on Islamic Education aspires to contribute to the development of educational systems that are inclusive, technologically adaptive, ethically grounded, and sustainable for the future of global society.
